Last week, the Tokyo-based label Jazzy Couscous announced its third release via Facebook which will feature “an extremely rare Terada record” and Brawther’s take on Terada’s track Snow Tires. Jazzy Couscous has now shared with everyone a snippet of the B side.
Jazzy Couscous is a Japanese label run by the French producers/DJs Klodio and Alixkun, the latter also being the label’s manager. Following its footsteps since Klodio’s Toktroit release last year, the label explores the space between jazz, house, and hip-hop to create music that roots itself in urban Japan while making its way in Chicago and Detroit house territory.
Soichi Terada, being a man of high musical talent, only seems to be fitting for a release through this growing, jazzy label that promotes the same type of musical outreach that Terada embodies. His label Far East Recordings is an ode to that.
Before curating the labels first outing, ハウス Once Upon A Time In Japan… with Alixkun, Brawther has been featured on many outstanding labels, such as Balance, My Love is Underground, Secretsundaze, and the sublabel Courtesy of Balance Recordings. This remix comes at us as the Brawther Garlic Dub of Snow Tires and will be his first release for Jazzy Couscous. This remix reiterates how Brawther can bring soundscapes and groove together to form a driving, emotive sound.
There isn’t an official release for JC03, but we can hopefully expect it sometime during the second part of June with 300 copies and no repress. The record with be available in Japan only.
