Drumcode has announced the eighteenth installment for their vinyl-only Drumcode Limited series, titled Rivers Will Turn EP. The EP comes from Swedish natives Patrick Siech and Sebastian Mullaert, following the label’s most recent release of Butch’s Retechno 2 for DCLTD17.
The Drumcode LTD series started back in 2011 with an untitled EP by Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlbäck, and Paul Ritch, including a remix by Dustin Zahn. Since then, the series has featured many other skilled artists: Nihad Tule, Bauri, Psyk, Alberto Pascual, Alan Fitzpatrick, Manic Brothers, Rod, Ben Sims, Tom Demac, Glimpse, Petter B, Marco Faraone, Piegaja, Benjamin Damage, Juan Sanchez, Steve Rachmad, and 2000 and One.
Mullaert is a man of many aliases and sounds, having been involved with Minilogue, Qlap, Son Kite, Dab Screen, IMPS, Trimatic and producing under WaWuWe, Kooler, Filur, and Ooze. His creative reach has spanned across various avenues of electronic music, touching on ambient soundscapes to club-ready, thumping techno. His affinity for building intense electronic momentum in music can only be rivaled by his skill on a live hardware setup. His other most recent work, the Illuminate EP with Aril Brikha that was released in January through Mule Musiq, is an attestation to that.
Siech is a familiar face at Drumcode, having had three releases through the label and a remix for Adam Beyer’s Simple Maze back in 2011. Aside from Drumcode, he has released material for Break New Soil, M_nus, Parabel, and Dirty Hands while being featured on several podcast shows like Claydrum, Parabel Podcast, and Invite’s Choice Podcast.
Rivers Will Turn EP features two versions of the track. The “Vox Version” is a building, energizing pulse which merges with a menacing drone, eventually descending into peak-time madness. The “Tube Reduction” take on the track creates a deeper, more intense atmosphere which sets a darker tone for the EP.
You can expect the release to be out April 25 and can catch Mullaert perform at Corsica Studios in London on April 23, at The Mission’s Dance Weekend 07 in Constanta on April 29 to May 2, and at 4GB on May 7.
